Black Millennials for Flint Reflects on 1 Year in the Movement for Environmental Justice

TODAY BLACK MILLENNIALS FOR FLINT TURNS 1 YEAR OLD

Since February 10th, we have accomplished the following: 

*Supported The Black Swan Academy with helping to raise $3500 to support DC Youth to Serve on our 1st Annual Flint Weekend of Service 2016

*Raised a total of $5,123 to support the Flint Water Crisis

*Collected and distributed over 300 baby wipes/cleaning wipes to Flint Residents for our 2016 “Wipes for Flint” Campaign

*Collaborated/Partnered with 31 Community Organizations/Agencies

*Made 8 radio interview appearances including: We Act Radio (Including an special interview with The General Manager of DC Water) , The Thom Hartmann Show, Rhythm & Justice Radio & WPFW

*Made 2 Testimonies before the DC State Board of Education and 1 Testimony before DC Council

*Organized a Meeting with Congressman John Lewis to present recommendations for legislation to enforce federal mandated testing of lead in public schools

*Organized a Community Action Summit and a Flint Phone Drive & Letter Writing Campaign
